PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Paul Roberti, who has overseen public utility and regulatory matters in the Attorney General's office since 1997, has been named by Governor Carcieri to the three-member Public Utilities Commission. He replaces Robert Holbrook, whose term expired in March. Roberti has been involved in over 100 energy- and utility-related cases covering electric, natural-gas, sewer, water and telecommunications companies. He has represented various state agencies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and managed numerous investigations into public-utility and energy matters, according to the governor's office. "The PUC plays a critical role in fostering the direction of our state's energy policy and protecting the interests of ratepayers. Mr. Roberti's vast understanding of and experience in regulating public utilities will serve him well as a member of the PUC," Carcieri said in a news release. Roberti's appointment must be approved by the state Senate. |
