NEW BEDFORD, Mass. -- A mother and daughter from Cumberland, R.I. have been named in indictments handed up in Massachusetts on charges that they stole the identity of a 76-year old acquaintance, developed a fake identification card and used it to buy a boat and trailer worth more than $30,000. Anna Senechal, 77, and Julie Senechal, both of Cumberland, were indicted last week by the Bristol County (Mass.) Grand Jury for identity fraud, larceny over $250, forgery and uttering. Investigators from the office of Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley launched a probe into the alleged scheme last month. The authorities said that Julie Senechal had a relationship with the unnamed victim through a mutual acquaintance. During the course of their friendship, Julie Senechal allegedly used her position of trust to convince the victim to turn over her personal information by claiming that she wanted to set up a trust on her behalf. Last September, the victim contacted the Blackstone (Mass.) Police Department after being notified by a collection company that she was behind on payments for a boat that she had recently bought. She had never owned a boat. The investigators learned that Julie Senechal had bought the boat and trailer in the victim's name by having her mother, Anna Senechal, pose as the victim at the boat dealership. The authorities allege that the Senechals created a fake senior citizen ID card with a photograph of Anna Senechal containing the victim's personal information. Anna Senecahl also is accused of forging the victim's signature on the purchase and sale agreement for the boat. The Senechals will be arraigned in Bristol County Superior Court at a future date. I hope the RI State Police are aware of these new charges in Mass.Julie has a warrant for her arrest for failure to appear in 6th District Court on similar charges of identity fraud, OMUFP, and filing false doc's to a public official.
Julie has a long record of these offenses and should be on prison!

Stealing ID's are one of the worst crimes that can be committed. It appears that children and the elderly are often the targets. Those who don't prosecute for these tragedies are partly responsible...making the crime more attractive to these buzzards.

I hope it'll serve as a lesson for identity thieves. A friend of mine can't get a decent job because some scum stole her identity and commits crime on my friend's name. She took legal actions but the criminal records are still there. I hope the justice system is reading this so they would take this very seriously.
