PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- City license regulators have ordered a 10-day shutdown of the Sportsman's Inn as punishment for failing to control its premises the night seven weeks ago that a patron shot and wounded three people. The Board of Licenses voted unanimously Wednesday to suspend all eight of the strip club's licenses, including its hotel license and its licenses to serve alcoholic beverages and to stage live entertainment. The board made the suspension effective Friday to allow management time to empty its rooms of guests. There is an arrest warrant charging Quaweay with five counts in the shooting, but he has not been apprehended. William A. Gosz, lawyer for the inn, could not be reached for comment.
