New leader for Brown's Watson Institute

PROVIDENCE, RI - Michael D. Kennedy of the University of Michigan has been appointed director of the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University.

Kennedy is now director of the University of Michigan's Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia and its Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies and is a professor of sociology. .
He will be professor of sociology and international studies at Brown in addition to his Watson Institute work, according to an announcement by Brown Provost David I. Kertzer.

Kennedy will begin at Brown in July.

The Watson Institute is involved in the analysis of global politics and power to identify causes and solutions for international problems, according to the university.
