BOSTON (AP) -- Massachusetts is expanding the type of acceptable identifications for buying liquor in the state. Treasurer Timothy Cahill said Friday that restaurants, bars and package stores can now accept U.S. passport cards. Similar in size to a driver's license, the cards are authorized by the U.S. State Department and substitute for the standard passport book. They can be used for travel between the United States and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. The new cards join a Massachusetts driver's license, state liquor ID, passport and military identification card as valid forms of identification. Out-of-state licenses are accepted at the establishment owner's peril. |
