JOHNSTON, R.I. -- Just two days after the police say surveillance cameras showed him shoplifting $811 worth of Prilosec, Advil and other over-the-counter drugs from the Stop & Shop store on Commerce Way, a 35-year-old man returned to the store on Sunday with an alleged accomplice in an attempt to steal more drugs. On the second time around, Mark Christopher Kelley, of 632 Greenville Ave., was apprehended by the store's loss prevention officer, allegedly concealing $475 in pain-relieving medications under his clothing then trying to quickly unload them into a basket. Kelley was charged Sunday with two counts of felony shoplifting and one count of conspiracy. He was also charged with habitual shoplifting. Gerald Edward Carignan, 52, of Howard Avenue, who accompanied Kelley on the second visit to the store and was allegedly seen concealing five boxes of Zantac and four boxes of Omeprazole valued at $133, was also arrested and charged with one count of felony shoplifting and conspiracy. |
