SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- You can get a free ride to the University of Rhode Island's undergraduate graduation on May 17, courtesy of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority. Buses will depart from Galilee in Narragansett and Kennedy Plaza in Providence and drop off passengers at URI¹s Memorial Union bus circle. The undergraduate commencement is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in the quadrangle. WSBE Rhode Island PBS will broadcast the graduation live on its WSBE Learn channel: digital 36.2 / Cox 808 / Verizon 478. Barbara Meagher, of Johnston, URI assistant professor of journalism and a veteran television news reporter, will co-host a precommencement show with M. Beverly Swan, of Wakefield, retired URI provost and vice president of academic affairs, from the quadrangle, providing commentary and live interviews. Dave Lavallee, of Wakefield, assistant director of URI¹s Department of Communications and Marketing, will provide commentary from the field.
