WARWICK, R.I. -- Expect some roadway closures at T.F. Green Airport overnight Monday into Tuesday morning. The closures will start later than originally scheduled, at midnight instead of 9 p.m., on the Airport Connector east of the Post Road exit, the state Department of Transportation announced late Monday morning. Construction work related to the Intermodal project will mean the closure of the upper roadway on the departure level and the lower roadway on the arrival level from midnight Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday. The ramp to arrivals will open earlier, at 4:30 a.m. The Rhode Island Airport Corporation said the airport will remain open, but access to its parking garages may be restricted. The pedestrian walkways and the short-term and long-term parking lots will remain open. Airport police will be posted at the main airport roadway intersections to direct traffic flow. A state police detail will be posted at the airport connector when the departure roadway is closed. All buses, shuttle buses, taxis and public transportation will be directed to passenger loading areas. In case of inclement weather, the construction work will be postponed until Tuesday. As usual, RIDOT has got things backwards. (so what else is new?) There are no flights arriving at that time of the morning, but departures (upper level) jams up by 5 a.m. for all the morning flights. RIDOT is creating chaos rather than progress. RIDOT should pass out free $5 coupons to Dunkin Donuts for all passengers inconvenienced by RIDOT's stupidity on how TF Green runs!
