E. Providence man accused in supermarket meat theft

PROVIDENCE -- An East Providence man was arrested this afternoon for shoplifting several packages of meat from a Providence supermarket, the state police said.

The state police arrested Glenn Conn, 47, of 19 Henry St.,for allegedly grabbing the meat and running from the Save-A-Lot Food Store, at 700 Branch Ave., in the city's North End. An unidentified trooper apprehended Conn in the parking lot..

The police said that Conn was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace at the Lincoln Barracks and released.

So he made a mistake. What is the big deal? If he has no prior record, this should not have even appeared in the paper. Save the news for the real criminals.

Give this guy some food stamps and let him go with a warning.

He's probably a citizen, yet he's reduced to stealing food, while tens of thousands of invaders and non-citizens are stealing food stamps by the truckload.

Enough of these double standards... allowing foreigners to skirt and break all the laws, while holding our own people and citizens accountable for every tiny infraction.

It's time to start clamping down on these illegals and prevent them from stealing any more jobs, benefits, food stamps and entitlements than they already have.

Mistake??? Shoplifting is a deliberate act. Stealing is stealing and he should be ashamed of himself. Too bad that his name is in the paper!

Hungry people have resorted to shop lifting for a long time. I don't condone the act but it is definitely not news worthy.
