The combination of warm temperatures, strong winds and low humidity has created "explosive fire growth potential," the National Weather Service says.

As a result, the weather service has issued a red flag warning from noon until 8 p.m. Friday.

The warning covers all of Rhode Island, except for Block Island; all of Massachusetts, except for the Berkshires, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, and all of Northeast Connecticut.
