Get ready to leave the Division of Motor Vehicles with your wallet a lot lighter.

Starting Monday, DMV title fees and those for security lean statements will increase from approximately $26.50 to $51.50, which includes a $1.50 technology charge.

The new fees apply to certificates of title, transfers of title, duplicates of title, issuances of security lien statements, changes of security lien statement, and salvage titles.

The changes were approved early this month, as part of the state's plan to close a $357-million budget deficit before the end of the year in June.

In the coming months, the DMV will impose even steeper increases on the cost of reinstating a suspended license, from $75 to $250.
