Sir Ken Robinson, a British-born author, educator and "cultural visionary," will give this year's commencement address at the Rhode Island School of Design. Robinson, who has served as an adviser to the European Union, UNESCO, the J. Paul Getty Trust and Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, among others, will also receive an honorary degree. Other honorary degree recipients include Apple Computer design guru Jonathan Ive; Caterina Fake, co-founder of the photo-sharing web site Flickr; ceramic artist Betty Woodman, and former RISD president Roger Mandle. Robinson, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003, is best known as an educational reformer whose books and speeches highlight the importance of culture and creativity in education.
