NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I.-- After she lost her second dog, Sheelah Maioli, an English bulldog breeder from Providence, plastered the city with posters of her two missing bulldogs: Tiffany, 3 and Tiffany's son, Blanco, 1. A woman who works at Ferguson Animal Hospital in North Providence saw one of the posters stuck to a pole and recognized Tiffany as the dog that had been brought to Ferguson on March 24 with a broken leg. Tiffany was reunited with Maioli after she'd been missing for nine weeks. Maioli said that finding Tiffany gave her hope that she would find Blanco who disappeared on Dec. 12, 2008, when he wandered from her home to the CVS on Manton Avenue and disappeared. The breed she said goes for $2,000 per dog. Owners usually have a chip implanted in the dogs or get them tattooed, she said. Blanco had neither. Maioli said Blanco has a mostly white body, and light brown around his ears and one round brown spot on his back. He has a corkscrew tail. They are lovable animals that need special care such as someone to wash their crease-filled faces, she said. "He is such a lovable thing. I hope I can find him. It's a miracle I was able to find Tiffany. If Tiffany hadn't broken her leg, I don't know if I would have found her." Animal Control Officer Ernest Calandra, of the North Providence Animal Shelter, said his office is investigating Tiffany's theft. He said a woman from Langsberries Avenue brought her to Ferguson after a neighbor who said she was watching the dog for a friend gave her the dog. Anyone with information about Blanco should call Maoili at (401) 556-3382 or (401) 861-5648. |
