Steven Greenhouse, a New York Times reporter and author of the best-selling book, The Big Squeeze, Tough Times for the American Worker, will give a free public lecture about the book Tuesday night at the University of Rhode Island.

Greenhouse's book looks at the stresses and strains faced by American workers as a slow economy saps wages, benefits and job security.

The lecture, sponsored in part by the Providence Newspaper Guild, the union representing news and advertising workers at The Providence Journal, begins at 7 p.m. in the Lippitt Hall auditorium, 5 Lippitt Rd., on the university's Kingston campus.
