An Attleboro, Mass., company is the maker of the World Series rings that were delivered to members of baseball's 2008 champion Phillies before Wednesday's game at Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park.

The rings are, as you might suspect, spectacular.

Made by Masters of Design, each 14-karat white gold ring contains 103 diamonds, totaling 3.84 karats., the Morning Call of Allentown, Pa., reports.

The 103 diamonds represent the team's 92 regular-season and 11 postseason wins in 2008. A Phillies official declined to give an estimate of the rings' cost.

''There are a lot of diamonds in it," Phillies slugger Ryan Howard said, according to the newspaper. "I was pretty stoked about that. It's definitely a good ring. The size of it, it's huge. And it's pretty heavy. You've got to have a strong finger to hold that bad boy out. I didn't really know what to expect, but they really went all out."

The rings were driven into the park in a van escorted by four police officers on motorcycles, and were handed out to 37 players, coaches and staff.

The recipients included Pat Burrell, the current Tampa Bay Rays player who came to Philadelphia from Boston for the ceremony, then got back to New England in time to be in the starting lineup for last night's Red Sox-Rays game.

Burrell received the biggest cheer of the afternoon; this being Philadelphia, one player was also booed (current Baltimore Orioles pitcher Adam Eaton, who was ineffective last season and was not invited to join the team for the playoffs or the celebratory parade).
