WOONSOCKET, R.I. -- A Woonsocket man is being held without bail following an appearance this morning in District Court on charges of first-degree sexual assault and domestic kidnapping in connection with the alleged assault of his former girlfriend, according to the police. The case has been referred to a grand jury. Anthony Molyneaux, 29, of 118 Seventh Ave., was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Thursday and held overnight at Woonsocket police headquarters, according to the police. He will also face charges of domestic felony assault and domestic simple assault, according to Detective Lt. Eugene Jalette. The woman told the police that when Molyneaux was released from prison in November, he continued to call her, even though she tried to break off the relationship, according to Jalette. Molyneaux had served nearly three years at the Adult Correctional Institutions for stealing an automobile, breaking and entering, and failure to register as a sex offender related to a crime committed in another state, Jalette said. The woman told the police that Molyneaux called her from the time he got out of prison until March 2, and threatened bodily harm to her and her family if she didn't go to his house, the police said. The woman told the police she feared for her family's life and went to Molyneaux's house, Jalette said. The woman told the police that Molyneaux would sexually assault her when she went to his house, Jalette said. She also told the police that on one occasion, he pulled her ears, and on another, he took a razor blade to her ribs, causing superficial wounds, Jalette said. On March 2, the woman said she fled the apartment, but she told the police that Molyneaux chased her down and forced her back to the apartment at knifepoint, according to Jalette. The woman did not tell the police out of fear, but after the last incident, she called an officer she knew and told him, Jalette said.
