BARRINGTON, R.I. -- The Town Council has agreed to hold another public hearing next month to hear the latest update on Vision Appraisal's attempt to correct problems with its property assessments. Seven hundred people jammed Barrington High School Thursday night to complain that the town-wide revaluation was seriously flawed. Many in the audience demanded a new revaluation asked that the council postpone the new assessments until the entire process can be done over. "Our position is this isn't a process that can be tweaked," said William Landry, a local lawyer who represents the citizens' group, Barrington for Equitable Taxes. ""We will continue to implore the council to start from scratch." |
