By Amanda Milkovits and Kate Bramson TIVERTON, R.I. -- The police are seeking help from other law-enforcement agencies and the public in a search for a missing Tiverton man, who has not been seen since Tuesday morning. Joseph DeSilva, 52 of 301 Bulgarmarsh Rd., was last seen driving a black Ford Taurus, a company car with Massachusetts license plate 81 DE 33, Tiverton Police Lt. Patrick Jones said this morning. DeSilva's family and friends are gathering in Providence this afternoon to distribute flyers about DeSilva's disapperance and asking people to call authorities with information. Jason Andrews, a friend of the family, said DeSilva works for the Core-Mark distributing company and had made his first stop at Peter's Package store on Rodman Street, in Fall River, on Tuesday at around 9 a.m. DeSilva was expected at his second sales call at a store in New Bedford that morning, but never arrived, Andrews said. Calls to DeSilva's cell phone that morning went directly to voice mail, Andrews said. His bank card and insurance card have shown no activity, Andrews said. The police are concerned because DeSilva's wife of 27 years says he always calls throughout the day and comes home each evening from the job that keeps him on the road in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He calls home numerous times a day and comes home each night, according to the family, which includes his wife, Kelly DeSilva, and their 26-year-old daughter. "The thing that makes it difficult for us is, he's a traveling salesman," Jones said. "There's not a specific area we could search." Andrews said that DeSilva's friends and family have called area hospitals in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and have distributed fliers about DeSilva at stores and other locations. They've traced the route DeSilva would have taken to his next stop in New Bedford, and they've checked along the highways in both states, the woods and ponds in Tiverton and Little Compton. But there's been no sign, Andrews said. The family worries that DeSilva was the victim of foul play. An earlier version of this entry was first published at 10:16 a.m. The police have entered DeSilva's name into the National Crime Information Center database. That allows any police department that may come into contact with DeSilva for any reason access to the information that he has been reported as missing by the Tiverton Police, Jones said. The Tiverton Police have also contacted airport police and the Massachusetts State Police as they search for DeSilva. If anyone believes they have seen DeSilva or the vehicle he was last driving, they should contact the local police in the community where they see him or the car, Jones said. If anyone sees him in Tiverton, they should call 911 and local officers could respond, Jones said. DeSilva's family reported him as missing to the police on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m., Jones said.
