The Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame Thursday announced the names of its second class of inductees and the date of the induction banquet. The new inductees are: * Jack Comley, regarded as a pioneer of Rhode Island talk radio who died in 1974; * George Patrick Duffy, known as "The Voice of the Rhode Island Reds" hockey team; * Carolyn Fox, WHJY "shock jock"; * Daniel "Giovanni" Centofanti, morning drive-time host at WPRO-FM for 10 years and a fixture there since the '70s; * Jimmy Gray, longtime host on WPRO AM and FM, WCTK and WHJJ; * Norm Jagolinzer, the longtime smooth-talking host on WLKW; * Jim Mendes, jazz DJ in the '40s and '50s who was also one of the first broadcasters of color in Rhode Island; * Don Pardo, known for his voice-over work on TV (particularly Saturday NIght Live), who got his start in broadcasting at WJAR-AM in 1938. The induction banquet will be held Thursday, May 14, at the West Valley Inn, in West Warwick, at 7 p.m. with a cocktail reception at 6. Tickets are $50, $450 for a table of 10 people, and proceeds will benefit the group A Wish Come True. Call (401) 781-9199. |
