U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehhouse is scheduled to take part in the unveiling of five educational panels at the Providence Place Mall this morning that will provide information to shoppers about the Woonasquatucket River, which runs underneath the mall.

The panels are located by the first floor windows where shoppers also get a panaramic view of the river and Waterplace Park.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Rhode Island Rivers Council sponsored the educational project. Graphic designer Jason Tranchida of Llama Product Inc. designed and produced the panels on behalf of the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council. The panels describe the river's watershed, its habitat and upoming projects such as creating new fish runs around dams..
