PROVIDENCE -- The Providence After School Alliance is one of 50 agencies in competition for the 2009 Innovations in American Government Award run by the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. PASA, which was spearheaded by Mayor David N. Cicilline, provides a network of after-school activities for 1,800 middle school children in Providence. Plans are underway to expand the program to include high school students. PASA has qualified as a semifinalist. Finalists for the 2009 awards will be announced on May 18 and each will make a presenation before the national slection committee, chaired by David Gergen, on May 27. The winners will be announced in September. |
