The PC Friars have lost to the Louisville Cardinals, 73-55, in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament. The result probably ends PC's NCAA Tournament hopes; it appears to be NIT or bust. The Friars turned the ball over too often and shot poorly from the field (33.9 percent) -- especially from behind the 3-point arc where they were 2 for 17. The 55 points was the lowest total all season from the Friars. Louisville's pair of 6-9 forwards, Earl Clark and Samardo Samuels, dominated the action from the outset. Clark finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Samuels had 22 points. Together, they more than made up for the disappearing act of first-team all-conference selection Terrence Williams, who was horrendous from the start. Weyinmi Efejuku led the Friars with 17 points, but he managed only 4 after halftime. Check back later this afternoon for more coverage from Kevin McNamara on our PC Friars page. |
