The Newport International Film Festival has partnered with New York's Museum of Modern Art to present a selection of films from this year's festival on June 7 from MoMA's annual exhibition of films that the museum has restored and preserved. The films to be shown in Newport have not yet been announced. The 2009 NIFF will also present its annual Claiborne Pell Tribute Award during the festival with the as-yet-to-be-named honoree presented with a $10,000 contribution in his or her name to MoMA for its film preservation program. The honoree will also take part in choosing which film the museum will preserve. |
