BURRILLVILLE, R.I. -- A fire that broke out in a building owned by the Fish & Wildlife Divsiion of the state Department of Environmental Management this morning has destroyed a number of vehicles.

Deputy Fire Chief Michael E. Gingell of the Harrisville Fire Department said four firefighters received slight injuries and were treated at the scene.

Gingell said the alarm came in about 6:20 a.m., and firefighters found themselves battling a blaze at 1265 Round Top Rd., near the intersection of Brook Road. He described the structure as an outbuilding that housed several pickup trucks, tractors, snowplows, a woodchipper and other equipment used in woodland management.

He said most of the building burned to the ground, but the flames did not spread to nearby residences.

Gingell said that additional fire trucks were summoned from Uxbridge, Mass., and the Pascoag, Oakland-Mapleville and Nasonville Fire Departments. He said it took about 40 minutes to bring the flames under control.

He said the state fire marshal's office was investigating the cause.
