Hardy, 42, of 776 Providence St., remained held on $100,000 surety bail after he was arraigned for felony domestic assault and attempted murder. Hardy has been held at the Adult Correctional Institutions since the police arrested him in September. He has spent time in prison on previous domestic assault convictions, according to court records. Hardy and his girlfriend had broken up last June, but then Hardy invited the woman to retrieve her belongings from his apartment, according to the police. The West Warwick police allege that Hardy then attempted to strangle his ex-girlfriend, but stopped when the woman pleaded with him to spare her life for her family's sake. She escaped and called 911. |
