A new documentary on the Warwick Musical Theatre is starting to take shape. Larry Bonoff, the theater's former general manager, today announced the posting of the first cuts -- a 3-minute, 50-second clip -- from the upcoming documentary The Tent: Life in the Round. I just wanted to tell you that me and my sister Cynthia went to the tent every summer for 21 yrs. before it closed. My favorite singer is Engelbert Humperdinck and hers was Tom Jones. We loved going there not only for their shows but, for others as well. I went on stage for a Lindy contest with my kids history teacher when Fabian, Bobby Rydell, and Frankie Avalon were there. I guess we won according to the applause. We just had so much fun going there. I miss it terribly.
Thank You, Claudia Botelho

I was in the 11th grade, Lockwood High School. My brother, a Warwick Firefighter, told me that, if I wanted to make a few bucks, the Bonoffs had asked the WFD for help in getting the theater ready for opening. We worked from early morning to late afternoon setting up chairs, picking up trash and various chores. When we were done we went to the ticket window for our pay - I remember mine was nine dollars - I guess the hourly was one dollar. Later years I enjoyed Liberace, Sha-na-na, Roy Orbison, Anne Murray and others. We saw one of the final shows with The Great Brother Ray Benson and Asleep At The Wheel with Roomful of Blues. Part of my history in my lifetime in Warwick.
