PROVIDENCE -- The Rhode Island Supreme Court today declined to intervene in a salary dispute between the East Providence School Committee and the union representing city teachers.

The decision leaves the matter in the hands of the State Labor Relations Board.

The union, the East Providence Education Association, had appealed a ruling by the Superior Court.

Thank Goodness! Our Council and School committee are with its taxpayers! So sorry the teachers need a 20% copay, while I am paying 50%. They are lucky to have jobs. I'm losing mine next month. Go Townies! Justice for all!

When will the East Providence Teachers' Union STOP wasting the taxpayers' MONEY and just sign a contract?

Teacher's everywhere. We respect you. Respect the taxpayers. Your Union has misled you into thinking that raises, bonuses, medical and other benefits are an ever increasing thing. They are not. Do your job well and you shall be recognized. If you are not happy with our offers for employment, then we understand and wish you well in your future endeavors.

How many ways need it be spoken the government has sold us all down the river. Our industry left us years ago and moved to China, our reps are in the cookie jar getting the last crumbs and we the people humbly asking for jobs, heat, medicine and food. And you want what?

When will the union figure out that the only time management will listen is when there is the threat of a job action?

Tony...boohoo, your career path was your choice. You could have become a teacher. Why are people not working with those who care for our children during the day and "attempt" to educate them.

instead of just putting bandaids on this, to really end this junk, let the cowardly general assembly get rid of the collective bargaining agreement law and then you'll see some harmony at long last. If the teachers don't like that, they're free to pursue other opportunities.
