Tish Adams, a jazz singer, musician, music teacher at School One in Providence, and WRIU radio host, unveils a stamp of Anna Julia Cooper, an educator and civil-rights activist, during ceremonies at the U.S. Postal Service headquarters in Providence today. The U.S. Postal Service celebrated Black History Month with community leader Michael S. Van Leeston, chairman of the Providence Black Rep and owner of the Van Leeston Group; Adams, students from School One, speakers from the post office, and the Rhode Island National Guard, who presented colors. They unveiled Civil Rights Pioneers stamps as well. |
