Two actors who either live in Rhode Island or grew up here are up for Oscars Sunday night.

Viola Davis is nominated for her supporting role in the film Doubt. Davis grew up in Central Falls and graduated from Rhode Island College. She has a 2001 Tony award to her credit, for the play King Headley II.

See her performance in a trailer from the movie.

Richard Jenkins, the Trinity Rep veteran who lives in Cumberland, is nominated for an Academy Award for best actor. He was chosen for his performance as a grieving widower in The Visitor, a movie written especially for him. He will be up against box-office heavyweights Sean Penn, Mickey Rourke, Brad Pitt and Frank Langella.

You can judge his performance, also in a movie trailer.
