5 years ago today: The entire old Jamestown Bridge, including the proposed fishing pier, will be torn down and turned into aquatic reefs or recycled, the state Department of Transportation announces.

25 years ago today: More than 1,500 Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Explorers, from 8 to 21 years old, crowd into the rotunda of the State House for State House Day, a brief ceremony to mark the start of Boy Scout Week.
