CRANSTON, R.I. -- Cranston Police have identified two of the victims in a two-car accident last Saturday as Joseph Mockler, 24, and Sara Bechtel, 21, both of Warwick. They are both in serious condition, family members said. The police said the two were riding on a 1994 green Ford Thunderbird, Mockler at the wheel, when a 2005 white Pontiac G6 traveling in the opposite direction swerved in front of them on Elmwood Avenue. Conor Young, 20, of Cranston, whom the police identified as the driver of the Pontiac, and two of his passengers -- Richard Elliott, 19, and Christopher Athaide, 22, both of Warwick -- died in the crash. The two other passengers in the Pontiac, two teenage girls, are listed in serious but stable condition at Hasbro Children's Hospital, according to the Cranston police. The accident remains under investigation. ** Editor's note: An earlier version of this posting gave the wrong spelling for Sara Bechtel's name. |
