The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said it will switch to a new email address Monday partly because the old one has been collecting too much "spam," or unsolicited email.

The agency added a new email addresss, @dot.ri.gov, more than two years ago. It said it will stop using the old one, @dot.state.ri.us, on Monday, February 23.

"RIDOT will block delivery to the old addresses due to increasing SPAM threats to the RIDOT email exchange server," the agency said.
