There are no classes today at the Beacon Charter School due to a furnace malfunction yesterday.

Principal Rob Pilkington said he cancelled classes because the people working on the furnace could not assure him yesterday when it would be repaired.

The school's 190 students were evacuated to the Stadium Theatre across the street from the school after the furnace overheated. The malfunction caused dangerous levels of carbon monoxide to flow through the school, according to Deputy Chief Marcel Bacon.

Bacon said no students were injured or showed signs of poisoning because the fire alarms sounded when the furnace overheated and teachers took students out of the
school immediately.
