Tomorrow will be the last day you can use tokens to pay the toll on the Claiborne Pell Bridge. As of Sunday, only cash and E-ZPass will be accepted. "While tokens have been an important part of the bridge's history, with technologies like E-ZPass now available, it is time to move on, which means tokens will no longer be accepted as of Feb. 1," said David Darlington, chairman of the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority, which manages the bridge that connects Newport and Jamestown. Unused tokens can still be redeemed at the following locations:
Tokens can be credited towards an E-ZPass account, at a rate of 91 cents per token, or sold back, at a rate of 83 cents per token. CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. This is typical RI ripoff....pay a dollar get 91 cents back.

How about they actually process my application and send me my transponder so I don't have to pay $4 just to do research on the island. I'm a poor college student for heaven's sake!

Why can't they get the full vaule of the token? I guess it's true that Rhode IslAND IS a crocked state
