PROVIDENCE, RI -- Fire officials are investigating a fire that broke out early this afternoon in a three-story residential building at 352 Branch Ave. The fire, reported at about 2:10 p.m., started on the second-floor porch where workers were laying a new floor, acting Battalion Chief Scott Mello said. The fire was contained to the porch area and extinguished in about 45 minutes, Mello said. No residents were home at the time. The fire remains under investigation. |
