Temperatures are dropping -- and dropping; ice possible

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- It's a good time to stay indoors -- if you can. Otherwise, bundle up!

First, watch out for possible ice. No major accidents have been reported so far, but overnight rain and melted snow are freezing, creating hazardous conditions on -- and off -- the road as temperatures begin dipping in anticipation of an arctic front that is expected to hit our area Thursday night through Saturday.

Just so you get an idea, around 7 a.m., the temperature in the Providence metropolitican area is in the mid 20s; take the wind chill into account and we are down to 11 or 12 degrees. By the afternoon, we'll drop into the teens -- single digits with the wind chill.

Winds could gust as high as 36 mph.

A hazardous weather outlook remains in effect.

Snow is possible tonight. By tomorrow afternoon, we'll have an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow.

Bitter cold will take over tomorrow night, with expected wind chills in the 10- to 25-below zero range, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service is already tracking another storm that may affect us Sunday or Monday.
