PROVIDENCE -- A man was injured this morning after a city plow sanding an icy, steep street off North Main Street slipped on the ice going downhill and hit his vehicle and slammed it into a parked car. The accident occurred around 9:42 this morning at the corner of Cady and North Main Streets near the North Main Street fire station. The owner of the struck vehicle was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, according to Battalion Chief Thomas Brearley. Brearley said he was in stable condition with possible injuries to his back and pelvic area. The owner of the parked car was not present during the accident. The driver's name was not immediately available. Brearley said the plow was sanding the icy street when it slid down it and hit the car. The plow pinned the vehicle and its lone occupant between it and the parked car. |
