PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A chilly start to what will be the warmest day of the next seven days. To put it in context, today's high is expected to reach about 38, though with the wind chill it will feel more like 32. Over the next seven days, we won't be close to that as an arctic cold front moves in, bringing some snow and frigid temperatures. (Think single digits by Friday with the wind chill below zero). A hazardous weather outlook goes into effect tonight. The arctic cold front is expected to bring rain and scattered snow showers to the region this evening. Snow accumulations of up to an inch are possible, according to the National Weather Service. Strong squalls are possible. Coastal communities, where temperatures are expected to remain above freezing in the evening, are expected to see a flash freeze as temperatures rapidly fall by daybreak tomorrow, which will make for a treacherous commute, according to the National Weather Service. Tomorrow, it will be sunny but windy, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Snow will move in tomorrow night, and temperatures will plunge Thursday night into Friday. Wind chills will likely drop to between 15 and 25 below zero late Thursday night and Friday morning. For the latest weather conditions, visit projo.com/weather. |
