TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) -- A mentally disabled man that police said was raped by a Fall River man who had befriended him will take the stand again today against his alleged attacker. The Tiverton man testified yesterday about the "mean and evil" events he suffered at the hands of Buddy Smith, 23, of 862 Charles St., Fall River. Smith was charged with rape, indecent assault and battery on a mentally retarded person and witness intimidation. He is accused of raping the Tiverton man several times between 2004 and 2006. The alleged victim, referred to as J in court documents, testified that his attacker was at first nice, then became mean. Under cross examination, Smith's lawyer pointed out inconsistencies in the alleged victim's recollection of events. -- The Associated Press with information from The Herald News. |
