McDonald and his father are in the throngs of people on the Mall in Washington, D.C., in the aftermath of Obama's speech, which filled McDonald with a spirit of optimism as he stood by the great reflecting pool near the capitol building with a clear view of the nation's 44th president. Dwight won tickets to the ceremony in a lottery held by U.S. Sen. Jack Reed's office. The speech has charged up Washington D.C. with an "electric energy," McDonald said. "You can feel it down here in D.C.," McDonald said. "I guess people are ready for change." The 39-year-old computer analyst and his father, Edward M. McDonald of Fort Myers, Fla., are moving through the throngs along the mall, bound for Union Station, where they intend to have lunch. "It's just incredible," McDonald said, speaking of the crowd. "A sea of people." |
