PROVIDENCE -- Firefighters put out a second-floor fire in a two-story wood-frame residence this afternoon on Ruggles Street, according to James Taylor, chief of communications for the Providence Fire Department. Two people from the residence and two firefighters were taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Taylor said, but extent of injuries was not known The residence, at 107 Ruggles St., was occupied at the time of the fire. Red Cross was called to offer assistance to residents who need a place to stay. Crews responded at 1:44 p.m. The fire was brought under control at about 2:30 p.m. |
