PROVIDENCE -- A Cranston man charged in the fatal assault of a Connecticut man over the weekend was arraigned this morning on a murder charge. Narin Kheng, 27, of 50 Lincoln Ave., did not enter a plea on the felony charge, as is customary in District Court. He was ordered held is being held in the Adult Correctional Institutions pending a bail hearing. Antonio DiSano, 19, of 18 Grant St., was charged with simple assault. He was released on $50,000 bail with surety. A pre-arraignment conference has been scheduled for Feb. 9. The police said Kheng and DiSano assaulted Jeremy M. Olearnick, 22, a line-order cook from Norwich, Conn., on a sidewalk near Friendship and Chestnut streets early Saturday morning. Kheng stabbed Olearnick, who was later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital, according to the police. Olearnick, who was out with friends, had just left Club Hell on Richmond Street. Kheng and DiSano had left a nearby club on Richmond Street, Level II. |
