Deputy House fiscal adviser Sharon Reynolds Ferland makes a presentation to the House Finance Committee today, as it holds the first of three meetings this week. Today, the lawmakers were getting an overview of expenditures for the fiscal years 2008 and 2009. The panel is gathering tomorrow and Wednesday to learn more about the ins and outs of the Rhode Island's troubled budget situation. The state is facing an estimated $357-million budget deficit this fiscal year and an estimated $450-million gap in the next fiscal year.

The only real solution to the problem is to cut state expenditures. But, unfortunately, in a socialist leaning state like RI, the answer the Dems have always come up with is to raise taxes.
The citizens of RI had an opportunity (many) over the years to not vote for these people, but they keep voting the same Dems. So now the people have no one to blame but themselves.

I feel sorry for the working class who will continue to bare the burden. When will someone stand up from this group and say they are mad as hell and won't take it anymore? Does anyone know their history? Does anyone know it took a revolution to break away from a government that was taxing the hell out of its citizens. (American Revolution).
