From left, Peg Langhammer, executive director of Day One, Patty Wetterling, keynote speaker, and A.T. Wall, director of the Department of Corrections, talk during a conference in Providence today on how to best deal with sex offenders. Wetterling's son, then 11 years old, was kidnapped in Minnesota in 1989. He was never found. The kidnapping prompted Wetterling and her husband to create the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center. More than 200 social workers, lawmakers, police officers and others who deal with victims of sex crimes are attending the conference at the Providence Marriott.
