Rhode Island and local officials and area residents gather at the Daunis right of way near 11 Nayatt Road in Barrington today to discuss what some neighbors see as problems with the right of way, which is a CRMC-designated fishing area with a small amount of parking. Today, town officials said they would seek state permission to put up a snow fence along the southern boundary of the right of way, but only after new questions are resolved over whether abutter Cecil "Ceci" D. Sartor is claiming more property than she actually owns. Read the related story.

Update: The town and CRMC realized that all the land, including the land where the ROW was, is owned by Mrs. Sartor. There is no snow fence because Mrs. Sartor didn't sign any CRMC application. The ROW is now more than half in the canal & isn’t wide enough to be a public access easement. There’s no CRMC permit for parking on the ROW. The old assent for parking on Nayatt is null & void. Public parking is not allowed because it is unsafe, it blocks access & it violates federal, state and local laws including the “24/7” parking ban. From the town’s website: “There is no public parking… and police will ticket.”

Lots of other areas in Barrington could be safely and inexpensively opened to lots of public parking. Such as: Elm, Third, and many streets in the Alfred Drown area. The most beautiful beach in Barrington is accessible from that area. But Town Councilor Kate Weymouth lives in that neighborhood.
