The four-day event, which had been held in Boston for a century, is one of the nation's largest American Kennel Club dog shows. This morning, Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline and members of the Eastern Dog Club, and the Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau were gathering at the Rhode Island Convention Center to announce the official move of the Bay Colony Dog Show to Rhode Island. This marks the end of a two-year search for a new venue. The show, which dates back to 1911, will retain its current name, at least for now. It will bring more than 8,000 competitors and more than 20,000 dog fanciers, spectators and vendors to Providence. |
