By Randal Edgar NARRAGANSETT -- A former school finance director who was arrested last month has been charged with two counts of wrongful conversion, two counts of computer fraud and one count of unlawful appropriation, the attorney general's office said. Christopher E. Mallett, 43, of Narragansett, was arrested last month after school officials discovered two purchase orders and two checks totaling $51,722.25 had been generated during the weekend of Oct. 18 and 19. The police later determined that the checks had been deposited into one of Mallett's personal accounts. Mallett, who has since been fired, is free on $50,000 personal recognizance, said Michael J. Healey, spokesman for the attorney general's office. His arraignment has not been scheduled. (An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that an arraignment date had been set.)
