CRANSTON -- A Woonsocket family had a little extra to celebrate this Thanksgiving: $55,479. The Bonin family won that night's Wild Money drawing, though they did not claim the winning ticket until the following day, the Rhode Island Lottery said today. The winning ticket was bought at the Gulf Express at 3 Pine Swamp Road, Cumberland. Gary Bonin told lottery officials Friday he had company over Thanksgiving night and could not check the ticket. Bonin said when he checked on the computer early Friday morning he wanted to scream in excitement, but didn't want to scare everyone. Instead, lottery officials said, Bonin told them he woke up every family member in tears. Wild Money drawings are held three times a week, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights, live on WPRI-TV at 7:29 p.m. Tomorrow's estimated jackpot is $22,000. |
