Governor Carcieri has ordered that all Rhode Island flags be lowered to half staff this Sunday in recognition of the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. The attack by the Japanese on the U.S. Navy base at the Hawaii port precipitated the United States' entry into World War II. U.S. flags will also be flown at half staff to commemmorate the day. |
