After high winds and rain packed a wallop, some 2,509 Rhode Island customers were without electrical power as of about 5 p.m., down from about 7,600 in the early afternoon, a National Grid spokesman said. "We are going to be working overnight to get these customers back up," said spokesman David Graves. "It looks like it could be tomorrow at some point" that all customers' power will be restored. As of 5 p.m., communities with the largest share of power failures were: Coventry: 737 Exeter: about 400 Warwick: 330 Cumberland: 185 Scituate: 160 Smithfield: 150 Foster: 134 |
